It is important for every man to maintain proper health. The prostate is one of the crucial glands that need protecting. It is normally found next to the bladder and urethra.

One of the most common cancers among men is cancer of the prostate. It is avoidable through proper prostate health care. All men should take care of themselves to avoid it.

The fight against this cancer is both physical and emotional. A man needs to know the major causes of this cancer and avoid being in the dark about it. He should then know what to do to keep the cancer causing factors at bay.

If every man can do this, he will be in harmony with his mind, body and spirit. There are certain foods that are known to help in the fight against cancer due to their dense micro-nutrients.

One of the important nutrients that can reduce cancer risk are antioxidants. These can be found in abundance in foods such as tomatoes, berries and water melon. They protect the healthy cells from being attacked by radicals and molecules.

Other nutrients needed are Omega 3 fatty acids which help in the fight against prostate cancer. They work in preventing tumor growth, lowering blood pressure, reduce weight and lower cholesterol levels. The best sources of these nutrients include fresh water trout, tuna, salmon, sardines and anchovies.

Nuts are also beneficial in improving your health. Examples of nuts that contain healthy fats and are needed in the fight against cancer include almonds, pecans and walnuts . However due to their high fat levels, they should be taken in small quantities.

A good source of plant protein and fibre are beans. They are also beneficial in maintaining your health and are a great substitute for animal protein such as red meat. Green tea is also very useful in preventing prostate cancer.

In addition to the different foods available, prostate supplements can boost your health. They should be taken as prescription medication as they improve the body's immune system and lower cholesterol levels. They are a good option as they are all natural and do not have side effects.
