Rosacea Skin Treatments

By Alistair Nole

Over 45 million people in the world are affected by acne rosacea, which is known as a chronic facial disorder and it can sometimes be progressive. Permanent redness, swelling, exceptionally sensitive skin, and bloodshot eyes are common complaints of those who suffer from this condition. This skin condition was known to only affect people of north-western European descent, and has been nicknamed the curse of the Celts by some Irish folks.

If melasma turns parts of your face dark, rosacea somewhat does the same. Rosacea is different because the marks are more red. It's natural for people's faces to turn red from time to time. If adrenaline levels are high, this can be a reason. When spicier food is consumed, arteries can be dilated and this can be a cause. However, rosacea takes redness to an abnormal level.

Rosacea is not caused by infections such as bacteria, studies have shown and doctors agree. Blushing occurs with some people more than others, and genetic attributes contribute to this. The condition can be aggravated by certain factors such as consumption of alcohol, which is also known to make your face red. Rosacea can appear in people at different ages, and it seems to be around 30 years old when dermatologists diagnose this disorder commonly.

Signs of rosacea may include redness around the cheeks, redness along with bumps and pimples (which usually follow red cheeks), swollen skin around the nose, and blood vessels becoming conspicuous on the skin surface.

Rosacea can be treated using lasers, which work well for many kinds of skin disorders. A topical solution is often first recommended by dermatologists for those who rosacea affects. There are antibiotic skin creams available that are effective for treating rosacea, and minocin and tetracycline are common ingredients in these. This works for both light and moderate cases of rosacea. Depending on the severity of the situation, a dermatologist could prescribe oral antibiotics when the issue warrants it.

Makeup is over-used by people who have rosacea in order to attempt to hide the condition from others. Remember that if you do this, you may only worsen the problem. Do not use makeup for this reason, be sure to only use it when it is for an important engagement, and don't use much. In regular situations, there is no need for makeup. Cleaners that are mild in nature are the best option for rosacea symptoms. Cleanliness will make the chances that rosacea will worsen to be much less. Natural cleansers are the obvious choice, free of major chemicals and unnatural compounds. This way, your skin won't be subjected to harmful irritants that will only further damage it.

People of any ancestral background can be afflicted by rosacea, making their lives less than optimal. Depending on the certain kind of rosacea that a person is suffering from, a suitable treatment can be devised that will be most beneficial to a patient. In order to lessen the effects of rosacea, using a natural skin product is a wise idea. However, like any medical condition, it's always best to consult the specialists. Patients with rosacea, or other skin conditions such as melasma can benefit from the experience of a well known and respected dermatologist and their expert treatment methods to enrich patient's lives.
