Have You Heard All The Talk About The HCG Diet?

By Riley T. Simonis

The HCG diet is a low-calorie diet helped by special drops. On a low calorie diet, the body burns up the day's calorie intake faster and begins to burn fat as a source of fuel instead. Low calorie diets themselves force the body to burn more fat once calories run out, but the addition of the special drops helps to maintain muscle mass during this process. HCG drops help in easing any negative side effects, such as irritability or fatigue normally associated with low-calorie diets. The body's system of fat management, including the use of calorie consumption, is reorganized with the HCG diet. The special diet consists primarily of three stages; initial intake, training your metabolism, and the final maintenance stage.

In the beginning of the special diet, the first two days require of an increased calorie intake along with initiation of HCG drops. This process helps the body to re-adjust its natural fat regulating system to burn more calories and fat when the low calorie diet is initiated. Hunger during the low-calorie stage of the diet is decreased because of the initial high calorie intake during the initial phase. During the second part of the special diet, the body is starting to use stored fat as fuel and the initiation of a low-calorie diet will help to ensure that it continues to do so.

The final portion of the diet, known as the maintenance stage, starts when the drops have successfully altered the body's metabolism. Calorie intake begins to increase back to regular levels, and the use of formula is no longer necessary in the maintenance stage of the special diet.

Calorie intake, however, must be slowly raised as to not disrupt the metabolism and the body's new system of burning fat. Closely monitoring weight during the maintenance phase of the diet will help to keep the body's new fat-handling procedures during the increase of calorie intake.

Only light exercise is recommended throughout the diet plan because of the low-calorie intake. As the body is currently burning stored fat because of the lower-calorie intake, heavy exercise might cause fatigue and starvation The hormones in the drops will not affect a woman's menstrual cycle, and there are no other known side effects from the program. Higher calorie intakes required for nourishment during pregnancy cause the the plan to yield little to no results if used by pregnant women.
